Choosing the right coaching programme for your goal

By Joey FarrellJuly 6, 20266 min read

One of the biggest reasons people stall is that they train for a goal they have not actually chosen. They want to lose fat, build muscle, get stronger, and reshape their legs all at once, and end up making slow progress on all of them. Real momentum comes from picking a clear priority and following a programme built around it. Here is how to think about the main goals, and which ProFlow programme fits each one.

Fat loss

If your main aim is to strip away body fat and see more definition, our Fat Loss programme is built for exactly that. It pairs a manageable calorie deficit with enough training to protect the muscle you already have, so you lose fat rather than just weight. This is the right starting point if you want to feel leaner and more comfortable in your clothes, and it lays a clean foundation for building muscle later.

Lean muscle

If you are relatively lean already but want to add shape and size in the right places, Lean Muscle is the programme for you. It uses a modest calorie surplus and progressive, structured training to build muscle steadily while keeping fat gain to a minimum. This is the slow, satisfying route to a fuller, more athletic look, and it suits anyone who is happy with their leanness and simply wants more to show for their training.

Glutes and legs

Lower body development is one of the most common goals we coach, and our Glutes and Legs programme is designed specifically for it. It concentrates your training volume and progression on the glutes, quads, and hamstrings, with nutrition set to support real growth in those areas. If your lower body is your priority, a focused programme will always outperform a general plan that treats legs as an afterthought.

Body recomposition

Many people do not want to commit to either pure fat loss or pure muscle building; they want to look leaner and more muscular at the same time. Body Recomposition is built for that. By keeping calories close to maintenance, prioritising protein, and training with consistent progression, it lets you slowly lose fat and build muscle together. Progress is more gradual than a dedicated cut or bulk, but for many people it is the most sustainable and enjoyable way to change.

  • Choose Fat Loss if seeing definition and dropping body fat is your clear first priority.
  • Choose Lean Muscle if you are already lean and want to add size without much fat gain.
  • Choose Glutes and Legs if your lower body is the area you most want to develop.
  • Choose Body Recomposition if you want to lean out and build at the same time, and are happy with steady progress.

Strength and size

If you care less about chasing a specific look and more about getting genuinely stronger while building muscle, Strength and Size is the programme for you. It is built around progressive overload on the main lifts, with enough supporting work to add mass. This suits people who love training hard, enjoy watching the numbers climb, and want a powerful, capable body to go with the physique.

When contest prep makes sense

Contest Prep is our most demanding programme, and it is not the right first step for most people. It makes sense only once you have already built a solid base of muscle and you want to take your conditioning to its absolute peak for a specific date or goal. It asks for real discipline across training, nutrition, and recovery, with close weekly guidance. If you are early in your journey, one of the goal-focused programmes above will serve you far better; contest prep is a destination you arrive at, not a place to begin.

The best programme is simply the one that matches the goal you care about most right now. Pick that priority honestly, follow the programme built for it, and let your focus do the work. And if you are genuinely unsure where you fit, that is exactly the sort of thing worth asking a coach; a short conversation about your goal and starting point will usually make the right choice obvious.
